The Bergwald Projekt is an organization which works with the government to help with environmental protection in the national parks. Volunteers reforest, re-irrigate, clean and mantain the public paths.
All room and board are paid. All de it, it may be in a camp without electricity and running water. Paricipants only need to pay the way to the next train station. The train rates are also reduced for the volunteers.
The project supports areas all over Europe.

Our Last Vacation
We spent a week in the moors near Trier, Germany end of Apri 2014l. We will help re-irrigate the area.
We stayed in a “Landschulheim” and had a cook. He prepared wonderful vegetarian meals. There was some much to do there was no time for art. But I did geta chance to really get dirty.
